Employees who have educational loans for law school are eligible to
participate in CRLA’s Student Loan Repayment Assistance Program. To
qualify for the program, eligible employees shall provide the amount of their
monthly payments and total loan obligations for all eligible loans to Human
Resources Department within 30 days of hire and every December for loan
reimbursements effective January 1 of the following year. All such loan
reimbursement is optional, and no attorneys need apply for such
reimbursement if it would reduce repayment assistance available from other
sources, including assistance from their law schools.
Section 43.2 Covered loans are all loans for education lending to licensure as an attorney
received under institutionally approved and certified loan programs.
Section 43.3 CRLA shall pay each eligible employee on a biweekly basis up to 125% of
the total monthly amount of their loan payment up to a maximum of $8,000
annually (max biweekly will be $307.70).
Section 43.4 Prospective participants will be required to first exercise their options to
receive repayment assistance from, or have loans forgiven by, their law
school. Participants will be asked to provide documentation of law school
loan assistance amounts. and these amounts will be deducted from the loan
payment total amount provided under 47.1 above.
Section 43.5 Payments will be made every pay period and treated as salary.
