Vacation/Unused Vacation Time

Per CBA Section 30.1 - 30.9

All eligible employees shall receive vacation with pay as herein set forth, to be computed from their date of employment. Regular part‐time employees working twenty (20) hours or more per week shall receive pro‐rata paid vacation based on the number of hours worked.

Section 30.2 During the first year of employment, employees shall accrue vacation time to total 15 working days. After one year of continuous employment, an employee covered by this Agreement shall accrue vacation time to total twenty (20) working days.

Section 30.3 An employee may carry earned vacation time from year to year not to exceed a total of 225 hours. If an employee reaches the maximum accrual of vacation time and requests time off for a period (which need not be less than one workday), such time off shall not be unreasonably denied.

Section 30.4 Vacation time shall be taken at a time mutually agreed upon between the employee and CRLA. Senior employees shall be given preference in their selection of their vacation periods, unless a less senior employee’s leave has already been approved. Vacation time shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Section 30.5 Vacation time shall be paid, at the request of the employee in advance of the employee's vacation period as long as the request is made at least two weeks prior to the vacation date.

Section 30.6 After an employee has been employed with CRLA for two years, the employee may cash out one half (½) week of annual leave for everyone (1) week of annual leave taken. The one (1) week minimum period of annual leave taken must occur during consecutive days and may include paid holidays (e.g. Christmas, July 4, etc.) but not floating holidays or any other paid leave such as compensatory time. The request for cash out must be made and taken concurrently with the request for time off.

Section 30.7 Upon termination of employment, an employee covered by this agreement shall be paid for all vacation accrued and not taken, except for attorneys covered under Article 38.

Section 30.8 CRLA provides notification to all employees of sick leave and vacation accrual balances on every paycheck stub and direct deposit stub.

Section 30.9 Vacation time shall be the vested right of the employee and utilization of such a leave shall not be considered excessive absenteeism.

We may have exceptions for a 1x cash out organization wide at Leaderships discretion. Announcements will be made via CRLA Teams General.
